BMW G310 Can't change gear

My buddy just got his first motorbike but after a few weeks got a problem with the gear. At first, he can't find Neutral when he wants to shift gear, then after that, he just got (-) when he wants to shift from 1st gear to N. when he's on the 3rd and wants to shift to 2nd, he got (N). He's going to the mechanic tomorrow. Has anyone here had the same experience? how did you fix it?

Sounds like a gear selector or shift drum issue probably. If neutral is showing up in the wrong places, it could be a misaligned shift linkage, worn shift fork, or a clutch issue. Have your buddy check the clutch adjustment first, if it's not fully disengaging, it can mess with shifting. If that's fine, the mechanic might need to inspect the shift mechanism or gearbox internals.

You know, besides what you just pointed out, it might actually be an issue with the clutch drag. If it's not fully disengaging, it can really wreak havoc on your gear shifts, making them feel clunky or even getting stuck in neutral when you don't want it to. It's definitely a good idea to check the cable tension and the free play, as well as the wear on the plates
