My G310GS got failed engine

I got myself this used G310GS with about 3k miles on it. So, I was just chilling on a ride up to the next state, and BAM! The engine just totally seized my back wheel and then just died. Luckily, I wasn't going fast, so I managed to keep it together.

Obviously, I took it to a mechanic nearby and he ripped the engine apart. Turns out, the oil pump was effed up (probably a factory screw up 'cause there was nothing hit it). That meant no oil, and the camshafts just froze up.

BMW's gonna send a new engine, which is cool, but it's gonna take weeks, maybe even a month, on top of the two weeks they already took to take the old one apart.
That's a crazy long time 'cause I ride this thing every day. There’s nothing I can do at the moment it sucks.

The dealer guys were actually really good about keeping me in the loop and said sorry a bunch of times, so that's something. But man, I really hope I get my bike back soon.

I actually loved riding the bike around town. It's surprisingly good for longer trips too, as long as you remember it's only a 300cc-ish bike.
But this issue is really frustrating, it makes me wonder if this bike is built that well and how long it takes to get parts when it breaks down.

That's rough, man, a month without your bike is tough, especially when it's your daily rider. Good on the dealer for keeping you in the loop, but still frustrating. Hopefully, the new engine will get you back on the road soon.

Tough indeed. This one sounds like a rare issue with the oil pump? Hoping the new engine will run smooth. G310GS is all in all a great bike but yeah the long waits for parts is kinda hard.

Wow, that's a bummer. Looks like the oil pump failure messed up your engine. It's cool that the dealer is helping you out, but the wait is really frustrating. I've heard some early G310 engines had oil issues, so fingers crossed the new one is fixed up. Just make sure to keep an eye on the temps and oil levels when you get back on the road. It's still a fun little bike

Yeah, keeping up with those early oil changes and checking the temperature is super important, especially when you've got a fresh engine. It really helps keep everything running smoothly
